Christmas events are now taking place and the weather is telling us winter is about to descend upon us.  The snow, Christmas
lights and the music on Main all go with making it feel like Christmas!

The City Council met earlier this month, and some of the highlights are:
-The Council voted an additional $1,000 from the general fund if needed, for completion of the remodeling the new community
center,
-Eric Eagle, Water Operator for the city reported he attended two days of training seminars in Pittsburg to renew his water and
wastewater licenses.
-Mayor Robinson reported the demolition of two unsightly buildings on Main Street will commence in January and should be
completed by February 1.
-The City Council annual Christmas dinner would be December 30 at Fireside Inn.

Boys and girls in Buffalo have anticipated Santa's visit, and he did not disappoint them.  Approximately 60 turned out to visit and
have their picture taken with Santa and receive a bag of candy.  Thanks to Mayor Robinson, Rick and Dusty Haney, Traci Kuhn,
Dee and Judy Roy for serving cookies and hot chocolate and to Santa for making this happen.

The Nazarene Church presented their annual Christmas program on Dec. 21.  Unfortunately, Paster Poe was taken ill and could
not put the planned program on, but his wife Patsy, with the help of the children sang, read poems, and followed  the children's
portion by the  reading of the Christmas story.  A covered dish dinner was enjoyed by about 35 folks after the service.

Edna Robinson's Christmas present to her family was hosting a Christmas dinner Saturday, Dec 20 at the Buffalo Senior Center.
Her extended family is comprised of 103 members, and fifty were present, including folks from Buffalo, Iola, Ft. Scott, Texas and
Chanute!  The day was spent feasting on ham, turkey and all the trimmings.  The afternoon was spent visiting and reminiscing.

Once again, it has been my privilege to bring you news of events and folks who make up our community.  A special thank you
goes to my new readers in Chanute for all your favorable comments.  I will strive to keep you informed on our corner of the world!
Have a happy holiday!   Dee McIntosh
